The location
There is a lot more to Blackpool than the annual illuminations, ballroom dancing, donkey rides and kiss-me-quick hats!
Despite challenges from foreign holidays, Blackpool continues to be a popular seaside destination. Tourism in the town supports 25,000 full-time equivalent jobs – one in five of the workforce. In 2023, the town was named the nation’s best-value holiday destination.
In 2021, 18.8 million visitors contributed £1.5 billion to the local economy, making Blackpool the nation’s biggest seaside resort. In 2022 the resort attracted a further 1.5 million visitors – a total figure of 20.33 million, contributing £1.7bn to the local economy. With added complexities in travelling to Europe and warmer summers, the popularity will continue.
People travel to Blackpool from all across the UK for long weekends, stag and hen parties, or just a fun break at a reasonable cost.
It offers a family friendly environment. with a bit of British tradition.
This Lancashire town has excellent amenities, above average levels of employment, and easy connectivity from many areas.
The town has also benefitted from government grants as part of its regeneration with in excess of £1bn being spent in the area to upgrade everything from the illuminations to a museum, from the airport regeneration zone to a large new shopping centre, sports facilities and much more. Plus, lovely countryside outside of the town itself.
